We all have a Facebook story.
A Facebook testimonial.
An interesting anecdote of how Facebook helped us catch up with a long-lost friend, reunite with previously unknown relatives, connect with new business opportunities, and so on.
Some of us may even have stories of how Facebook completely changed the direction of our lives, in a moment.
Imagine that kind of powerful testimonial… the life-changing kind (not the “you owe me ten naira from 5 years ago kind).
Now imagine it multiplied by FIVE THOUSAND.
United for Kids foundation is nothing special.
It’s a group of 6 friends, who decided during a routine visit to a children’s hospital, that they had to do something more than complain about apathetic government and civil servants. They had to take matters into their own hands, and do something small to change Nigeria.
They started small, faced immeasurable challenges, but soldiered on.
Today, they are on the verge of beating out thousands of charities competing for votes in the Chase Community Giving charity competition – in which JP Morgan Chase is giving away $5 million to 200 charities.
The story is heartwarming… the recollections of some of the kids helped is inspiring… and you will want to roll up your sleeves and do something, in whatever your area of passion is, to make Nigeria better. After hearing this interview.
In this day and age of:
- Nigerian 419,
- of Super Turkey-ish Kaita’s and Yakubu’s,
- of Nigerian local politicians being paid 5 times more than the President of the United States raises,
United for Kids Foundation is made up of a very small handful of young men and women that are exactly like you and me. And that is what makes them one of Naija’s Most Incredible.
Listen to the interview here, featuring UKF secretary Tope Fajingbesi Dada.
