Kaita’s Fateful Red Card Against Greece – World Cup 2010

By

Kaita's Red Card - Nigeria - 2010 FIFA World Cup in South AfricaKaita’s horrible split-second decision to fight and kick over a ball that was already out-of-bounds, probably cost Nigeria the game.

He has since been incredibly apologetic.  And hopes against hope that Nigeria wins the next game and, by some stroke of luck, moves on narrowly to the next round.

It is worth noting that Australia, down a man like Nigeria just a day or two after sani Kaita’s performance, managed to hold on for over an hour, and not lose their game.  It makes you wonder.

Is Kaita the ONLY person to blame for our loss?

And how does a player get so indisciplined?

Is Kaita an exception on the team, or could such individualistic and egotistical behavior be a bit more common behind the scenes than we would be comfortable considering?

It all makes you wonder.

What’s your take on the Kaita foul, the fairness of the red card, the performance of the 10-men afterward, and Nigeria’s prospects against South Korea?
